Today, we learned about Johann Sebastian Bach. Mr. John gave us all papers regarding this musician. After we read the handout, we did a short quiz which was actually very easy. After checking the quiz with answer, we proceeded to know our coverage of exam. It was about history and theory. After this, we got handouts regarding the history. Mr. Herry distributed us 5 papers to study.
Lastly, we also learned about Kodaly which was very interesting.

Today, we had the real quiz, which was also an assessment for the scale, triads and chords. After a short explanation from Mr. John, We started our exam and I finished earlier than others.
After this quiz, we got our scores for the singing assessment for Indonesian song called 'Gundul Gundul Pacul'. I got 8.5 out of 10. I am not very satisfied, but still I am going to work to get higher scores by doing this theory quiz. For the students who haven't done their assessment, they did the assessment.

Today what we did was only practicing for the own composition song performance assessment. I practiced with my other woodwind groupmates and we practiced in IT room since there were some parents practicing in our room. When I practiced, I also helped Jean for flute. However, I was little worried about my performance since I was still having problem to make a high tone.
I think I need to practice more to make a high tone.

Today Mr.John called out our scores for the last quiz. I got really bad...... which was only 57.5 out of 100........ :( My friends Tiffany and Ade got 100..... I felt so depressed because I could not do this properly while they did really good.
Since most of our class got low in this quiz, Mr. John taught us again about chords and triads, including the major 7th and dominant 7th.
When he explained again and I asked my friend for kind explanation, I could understand how to write correct chords and triads.
I am planning to improve the quiz next class which we are going to have a real one for the score in report card.

Today we started our lesson with thoery lesson about chords!
I felt really helpless since I did not know about diminished and augmented triads. Even though Mr. John explained to us, I was confused. Trying to understand, I only memorized how are the triads change when they become minor, diminished and augmented. After that, I took the quiz and I felt 'oh my god!' because I could not do it. Helplessely, I submitted my work to Mr. John and regretted to myself. It was again my new challenge to understand this topic for next quiz. We got the answer sheet of the quiz and I found that I have done many mistakes.
Today, other than quiz, we had Ian's saxophone performance. I was very impressed by his performance because Ian could blow the saxophone well even though it was really hard to learn Saxophone.
Today, we also started our assessment on Indonesian song which was called 'Gundul Gundul Pacul'. Since the time was not enough, Ade & Jayne and James & Andrew B only did their assessment. I still remember James did the very funny dancing within the music. :P

I did my performance assessment today! How nervous it was! I was preparing for my performance while others were playing inside the room. When it was my turn, I breathed once, and started my performance. I felt a little shy to play my own song. However, with Ms. Melvina's help of the background music, I could do better. After the performance, I wrote my reflection on the 32 bar song composition, copying to finale, and about my performance. I did my best to write the reflection.
By the way, I also saw aryo and emir's performance which was very impressive also! I really liked everyone's performance up till now!

Today we started our performance assessment! At the beginning of the class, we were told to write a reflection about 32 bars composition!. After filling the paper, we started our performance. For the performance, I really liked piano group student's performance. Their composited song were really great. It was like a masterpiece. Especially, Keizia, Adeline, and Tiffany's song were my favorite^^*
For my performance, I had to do next time because we did not have more time!
I got a new challenge today that I need to do the performance good like piano students. **

Today! We wrote the final copy of our 32 bars composition! Since, I did not have many changes to my final, I could finish them in short time!
For my instrument class, I showed my song to Mr. Hary, and he helped me to fix wrong chords into right one. (Thankyou Mr. Hary!><)
When Mr. Hary helped other groupmates, I practiced my song alone. My song need a lot of practice because it has high melodies at the back part. This is my new challenge, for my performance assessment.!

Today was Adeline's birthday!>< However, we did not celebrated Adeline's birthday in music class.
What we did today was to write a draft for our 32 bars composition in a paper Mr. John gave us. I copied the song from my music notebook to the paper, and i finished quickly. After I finished, I helped my friends to write chords for them. Especially, I helped Jayne, Mark, Andrew B, and Jean! I felt happy because I could help my friends!:) ** It took long time for me to write chords for them....! Nevertheless, I feel i am not useless, at least i can help someone!

Today we had a singing assessment!:( It was singing a song called 'What a wonderful world'! My pair to sing this song together was TIFFANY. I felt relieved because she sings very good. Before this assessment, we did 2 times of practice. When assessment started and when it became my turn, I was very nervous. However, Tiffany's voice made me calm. Her voice and my voice quite made a good match. After the exam, i felt my challenge had done, and i felt free! I was satisfied with the exam. However, I still wanted to repeat it because i felt a little inconvenienced. My challenge, which was to be brave in front of the class succeeded, mostly because of my partner's help.

Today, we sang 'La Bamba' all together. It was to practice again continuously from the last lesson. We also sang in groups. Piano group, Woodwind group, Guitar group, and Violin group sang in order. When we heard all of the group's singing practice who came out in front of the class, we could gain more understanding to the song. However! I had some challenges to this song because the song was hard in rhythm. I had to be cautious with the rhythm.
For the other song, we sang a song called 'What A Wonderful World'. It was a song by Louis Armstrong, a great jazz trumpeter and singer. When I saw the lyrics, I was impressed by the description of words. They were too beautiful. The melody of the song also seems to follow the lyric's beauty which was also nice. Next time, we are going to have a assessment for this song. I would like to prepare a lot for this assessment.

Today, we learned a new song called 'Lambamba'. The song was very unique and interesting. It was a mexican folk song. Because of that, lyrics and rhythms were hard to follow. I sang very bad at first because the beat was fast and confusing. I faced challenge to sing well. However, we slowly learned the melodies again and again. Mr. Herry helped us with this. At first, we sang only the melodies without lyrics. And then when we seem to be ready, we learned the lyrics one by one.
Other things I did today was that I submitted my midifile download homework and also the 5 example midis. For example midis, I have humoresque. I like this song the best.

Today, we started by checking our homeworks which is to finish the composition. And after that, we were told to design 32 bars by next week. And we had a homeworkd to find about midis of a famous composer. Since my name starts with E, I had to find a famous composer who has a name starting with E. For my composer, I have chosen Edvard Grieg. ^^ However, i expected to search for other famous composers such as antonio vivaldi, beethoven and mozart, I had no choice!
To do our homework, Mr. Herry taught us about how to use finale, and how to transfer the midi files to the finale. I am planning to buy the finale 2009!<<
For my instrument class, i have helped Jean about the scale in flute. Also, for my self, I have got a song to learn in 2 weeks time. I have to my best because this term, I need to improve my flute skills.

Today was the first day to have music of term 2. We started our lesson with previewing the term 2 tasks. For our term 2 tasks, there were some finale tasks, singing tasks and also the reflection tasks. Mr. Herry informed us that we are going to use finale software, going to sing Indonesian and Western song, and also going to write own comosition using finale.
For today's task, we did a practice of composing such as composition of AA'BB', ABB'A' forms. When Mr. Herry showed us the format of AA'B'A', we copied his note and tried to make our own composition. It was really fun to create melodies. I made 2 compositions of C Major scale. ^^

The day of submitting the individual report- I researched about the Jazz music. I am so happy that I have finished with the report!^^**
Today, we practiced to solve question related to the scales of major and minor. They were quite easy for me, but still, I was confused in some parts. When I was writing numbers for the notes, I was confused that I thought c was always 1. But, from today's exercise, I knew that it can change when the scales are base on particular chord. I thank to Adeline because she helped me!^^ thanx~
However, after the recess between 2 sessions, we started with steven, who have not performed yet. He played piano for us, and I thought he was good!^^ All of our class students actually performed really well! Isn't it?hehe
After, his performance, we were asked to write a reflection over our performance. I wrote what I think of my performance, and I wrote what do I have to improve. When we were writing the reflection, Mr. Herry showed us the videos of our performances which I never want to remember again!....... Next time, I will do my best, and make improvements to my skills!

Starting with the performance from Jean with her flute, We heard songs from Calista and Ian also who were playing saxophones. I felt surprised that they could actually play the instrument well although they were new learners. During the saxophone performance, I felt I would like to learn the Saxophone.
After all the performances finished, we learned about chords of major and minor. There were symbols and scale for each chords. Especially, we had major, major 7th, minor, minor 7th, 6, 69, for both major and minor and dominant 7 and minor 7.
I alreay learned this before, but I felt new when I was reviewing this. But, the explanation was clear that I could understand them. After learning about the chords, we proceeded to learn about the accidentals, including sharp, flat and neutral. Mr. Herry showed examples by drawing the piano on the board. Such as 'd flat = c sharp', we learned that this is called enharmonic tones. It was great to learn the new terminologies.
For the term test, I would like to memorize them all and save in my knowledge space in my brain.

Today, continueing from last week's assessment of presentation, we did our assessment of performance. It was about performing any classic song I chose and practiced in my instrument class. So, starting from group of Piano, guitar and violin continued to do the assessment. From the piano, I was impressed by all the players because all of them were wonderful in playing. Especially, I could feel that they had practiced a lot. For the guitar group which had so many people, I felt that boys were all good in their skills for guitar because they also did very good such as they have chosen difficult, and nice songs to play. Personally, I really liked Bayu's performance because while he was playing with Mark, I was impressed by their cooperativeness, and Bayu's speed of his finger playing the notes so fast.
Besides, i did my performance for the last player. But, I was the first from the flute students. The remaining flute students were decided to do tomorrow because there was no time.
When I performed my song called 'over the rainbow' I lacked the skills to vibrate appropriately, because what i did was trimolo, which is vibrating so fast. Also, for the expression, I think I did not do well since I didn't had part to become loud and sometimes quiet.
Next time, I would like to do better, with more difficult song. Also! most important thing, I will practice hard for my assessment!^^

Today, we finally did our Music assessment about presenting the Jazz Music. Our group (Me, Adeline, Tiffany, Jayne and Andria) had prepared well from before, and we were confident to present to the class! haha However we were still very nervous. Since before, we were preparing the music, videos and images. And we were successful today! From the videos and music, we have got many attention from the audience, and the teachers.
According to the comment from the teachers:
Mr. John - Every body were so collaborative, doing their research with their own role, and they have mixed well together and created a good presentation. Especially, the visual illustration was great that there were videos, songs and even one of the group member played the song. I liked Eun Hye using the palm cards, and the eye contact. There sources were given, so it was really nice. The one of the best group presented ever!
Mr. Herry - I think the content, which were almost perfect, and they had many informations. There were also animations which i liked. However, the negative point is that the postures of some of the group members were not firm. They were moving to point the pictures. I hope there will be no moving to show the pictures next time. They can also use the mouse to do that.
From these comments, I concluded that for the next assessment, we have to be controlling our postures that we can stand firmly, not moving, making people to be not distracted. I also learned that we need to be more collaborative to share making the palm cards and practice together. Anyway, i am very satisfied that we had mostly good comments from the teachers! My challenge for next time is to prepare more, and try to get more attentions from the people.

Today, in my class we were having a performance rehearsal. Starting from James, We presented our musical ability by playing the Classic songs. First! The guitar group presented. Starting from James, Bayu, Melvin and Emir Played. James played two sad songs which were really nice! It was called adelita, and the meaning was tears. It really felt like tears because James emphasized the sad rhythm well. When Bayu and Melvin played for the duet, it felt like their song was fast and cool. I also liked theirs. Lastly, It was Emir who played for guitar group. Emir, as usual, he played and sang at the same time. I really liked the song because the rhythm was good and his voice also matched with the song. As guitar group finished, there was Tiffany and Andria who played duet for the Canon in D. I felt that they played very well and especially Andria was really good in Violin.
Finally, although i was suffering with my lip problem, I performed a song called 'AMAZING GRACE', representing the woodwind group. I played in A chord, but I am not satisfied because my sound was not smooth enough. It was very challenging that I played in front of the class. Next time, I would like to show a better performance of myself.

Today, in Music class, Mr. Herry was late because he was in the Assembly. So, Instead of Mr. John, Mrs. Melvina substituted him and became our teacher since Mr. John was absent.:(
With Mrs.Melvina, we sang Indonesian Independence song 'Hari Merdeka'. I knew the song, so it was easy to sing with friends. When Mr. Herry was back, we discussed about the intervals again and he asked us what we don't understand. We also practiced the interval questions.
After this, we discussed about the group presentation! When we were discussing, we found out that there were some problems with the group members that we haven't finalized last week. So, we decided the group members again and in group, we gathered and decided each student's role in the presentation. I got the part to look up for the Jazz styles. After we decided we presented our each roles to the class room. I think we need to work hard for this Assessment!><

Since, the assessment is over, We were studying the intervals! Actually... I did not understand about the intervals before Mr. John explained it to me. So, when Mr. John called me in the class to ask me to solve about the intervals, I was very embarassed because I did not know about the intervals. However Mr. John kindly explained to me so that I could write the answer on the board. We learned about the 1st inversion and the second inversion which was very easy when Mr. John explained to us~! I am very happy that I learned something today!^^ ><

Today, it was really nervous day, that we had the singing assessment! We sang all part of the song and also had to sin the most hardest part, which is the refrain part. It was so nervous that we sang with a partner in front of the class. I made partner with Adeline. In real, we did not practiced for the assessment, but prepared at home alone. If me, I have prepared to memorized the song all, at home. I practiced by hearing the music from youtube and it was so challenging that the lyrics were too long and the song was kinda hard to sing. It was fast in some parts, and I could not speak the lyrics so fast in some parts.
However, in the assessment, we were allowed to memorize only the first verse and could sing with looking at lyrics after the first verse. I with Adeline, were singing together but i was not good... I couldn't perfectly memorize the song because i was too nervous. I was not satisfied with my assessment. Although I wanted to repeat, I could not repeat the assessment. I watched my other friends singing after I did. We were the first one to sing because Adeline was the first one to go when we do it alphabetically. However, assessment was done. I am going to challenge for the other assessment. ^^ Next time, I would like to memorize the song perfectly, and sing louder than this.

In our theory class! We proceeded to learn the theories, continuing from the last session. We studied about the Gmajor scale with triad and 7th chord. After we learned, Mr. John and Mr. Herry asked us to solve on the board when he gave us the problems. Each of us, When were called by the teacher had to go out to the board and write the answer! It was scary.....:( I wasn't called, so I was really lucky!^^*v
Today we had introduction of our new assessment. It was about the World music investigation. We had to choose for the groups to present the topic and choose the topic for the presentation. There were four topics:- Pop Rock
- Country Music
- Jazz music
- Folk Song
He also gave us the schedule for the assessment. He wrote that on 14th, We do the group discussion, on 21th, due of the assessment and on 28th, The individual paper duedate and we had the instrument performance assessment.
So, Today we had groups leaders and they were the one to pick their group members. 4 Group leaders came out to the class : James, Tiffany, Hasan, and Calista.
I was chosen to Tiffany's group with Adeline. Our group was not complete.... But, We had got the topic, the best topic we think, which is the 'JAZZ'!!!!!:) I LOVE THIS TOPIC!:)

We continued with the song 'Heal the World'. Our homework for last session was to learn all the lyrics. But we couldn't learn it all, because it was quite hard and the later part was mostly the hardest. Anyway, some of friends could sing already well, and for me, it was still hard because i just started to know the song by hearing the song at home.
So.. this was the first challenge i had to go through! I needed to sing the song well, with the correct tone, tempo and the rhythm!
When we sang altogether, it was really fun. Our class had many good singers, and maybe that's why we had big sounds when we all sang together. After we had several practices with the song, We had to sing infront of the class! omg...:( It was group of 2 to sing together in front of the class. Since we were not sure with the second part and so on, we just sang only the first verse! haha I sang with Jayne~^^ I was bad in singing....:( but, we had to prepare for the assessment that was coming soon............................. which was singing all the song....:(
My instrument class was as usual. I practiced with Mr. Hary and we practiced breathing...
I hope we have something new to learn. :)

Today we had theory class, learning theories about c major triad, 7th triad. And personally, I had learned already in grade 8. So, it was easy to understand. After this learning, we copied it into our notebook and got signed by Mr. John.
For the next instrument class, myself practiced a scale with Mr. Hary. Others waited for me for 15 minutes because they didn't had instruments yet. I practiced the scale A and C with fast tempo and slow tempo. And for homework, I also got scale practices. I had to practice the D and G scale octave, and play it with major, minor and diminsh.
I had many homeworks ....:(

Today is the third day of our music class. We had already been divided into instrument groups that from today, we were divided to learn one of the two session in the instrument class! In my instrument class, there were Jean. Calista, Ian, Carlo, Me. Our teacher was Mr. Hary.^^ He was really outstanding and excellent in playing Flute and Saxophone. He is a really talented teacher who could play many instruments! From today, We started learning about Woodwind Instrument. However, I was only one who had the instrument to play. So, we started with others to learn the instruments and what instrument they will choose between the Saxophone and the flute. They asked about instruments so that they can pick one which they want. As they decided to decide at home, we started practicing the breathing practice which is compulsory for all woodwind instrument players. We sat on the floor, touching our stomach and breath, followed breathing like Mr. Hary.
Before in the theory class, we with Mr. John Legon, learned about one new song called 'Heal the world'. This song was really famous, that it was composed and sang by Michael Jackson. I felt sad while singing because Michael Jackson was dead now, and the lyrics were really touching. We learned the song with Mr. Herry playing piano. The song was really nice. We learned the first verse, and got how the rhythm is.
ps: Adeline even cried while we sang the song. ^^

WOW! There was finally the long waited auditions for the guitar group! The boys who came out to play for their songs were: James, Emir, Aryo, Bayu, Mark, Jayne, Kevin, Carlo...etc.
The performances were awesome!! haha~ From the audition, students competed with one song which they picked, performing in front of the class. They played really well and i especially liked Emir's because he was singing and playing guitar at the same time!^^ Although he was a new student, his adaptation to the music class was amazingly fast, and he was good in singing also! hehe Other players also did really well and most of them played same song. I couldn't pick the students if I were the teacher because they were all good! I thought the boys really wanted to go into the guitar group that they must compete to go in to the group.
Finally, Mr. John picked for the students who passed. There were 7 students from 9 who passed and others moved to the woodwind group and string group. I felt I will be needing many efforts to do hard in my flute class with Mr. Hary like others. ^^

Today it was our first meeting after holiday. I was really excited to attend my one of favorite music class! haha I missed my music class since I was taking art in the previous year! I hoped we have new things this term and we do something fun!
First of all, we had introduction with the new students and old students. Mr. Herry explained the rules and he informed about the materials we should bring to the Music class. One of our very first task was to choose our instrument class! And I WAS VERY VERY SURPRISED! Guess what?? There was my favorite WOODWIND GROUP! It was totally a new group which was changed from a vocal group! Now, the vocal group was gone, and interchanged with this WOOD WIND GROUP! I can play flute, better than violin... so, i could register in to Flute group! I was liking this music class since, there is now a flute class~ ^^
However, i still missed the violin group because i was always in Violin group before this term. I just wanted to challenge with the new woodwind instrument 'flute' so that i can perform with variety of instruments.
So.... this is how i registered to the Flute group today. There were no many people joining flute. Lucky! I had no audition to go through! haha~ But, for the other group such as guitar group, there was an audition the next session. Since many boys wanted to go in to Guitar, Mr. Herry asked all the participants to perform one song to only pick 7 students.
